Evening Song 2009 Annual Fund Drive

Dear Member:

I love choral music, not only at Christmas time, but any time of the year.  That is why I participate in and support Evening Song, an auditioned non-profit choir comprised of 40 voices.  I hope you will take the time to come hear Evening Song and to consider supporting Evening Song's mission of joy and peace through fine choral music.

Established in 1996, the primary goals of Evening Song are first, to provide local amateur and professional singers the opportunity to expand their talent by performing in an ensemble; second, to encourage the composition and arrangement of new choral music; third, to expose singers to new cultures and venues for performing choral music and finally, to bring our audiences emotional and spiritual inspiration.

Evening Song's broad-based repertoire of inspirational and secular music has included such gems as "Carol Me Sweetly" by Charles F. Brown, and "Bogoroditse Devo" from Sergei Rachmaninoff's Vespers.  In spring of 2008, Evening Song was fortunate enough to premeire "Testament," an original oratorio composed by our Artistic Director, David Featherstone.  Over the years, Evening Song has taken this muisc to many churches, retirement homes, and community centers in North Texas, Virgina, Utah and this year to San Diego, CA.

This Christmas our repertoire will include some of everyone's holiday favorites as "Silent Night," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "I Wonder as I Wander," and many more including a special rendition of "Jingle Bells" you won't want to miss.

Evening Song has no paid staff and the artists volunteer their time and talents.  Since most of our concerts are free to the public, expenses for our activities are paid by the members or with contributions from our generous supporters.  This year's expenses are a little more than normal due to the planned tour to San Diego in June of 2010.  With every tour, it is Evening Song's desire to set up a scholarship fund to help those choir members who may have difficulty paying for their trip.  These types of funds can only be available with the generous contributions of our members and patrons.  That is why I hope you will consider supporting me and Evening Song's 2009 - 2010 performance season and tour with your generous tax-deductible gift to Evening Song.  Any gift amount will be deeply appreciated.

I personally appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you at one of our free Christmas concerts.  See our website for dates, times and places.

Sincerely,

Julianne Prudhomme
President

"Evening Song’s choral sound is distinctly pure. Intonation and diction are unified in such a way that the sound leaps into the room. Choral enthusiasts are so unused to this attention to detail that it takes the listener by surprise. Add to the mix a broad palette of choral styles, and an evening with Evening Song is an evening to treasure.” --Rev Nicki Lyford, Minister of Music and Worship, LakeHighlands United MethodistChurch.
