Evening Song introduces Testament, an extensive musical composition for choir and orchestra that is categorized as an oratorio.  In the scope and pattern of Handel’s Messiah, the libretto is drawn from both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. A multi-year project, it was recently completed by David Featherstone, Evening Song Artistic Director, with consultation by the eminent composer and teacher, Robert Xavier Rodriguez, composer-in-residence for the Dallas Symphony and professor of music at the University of Texas at Dallas.

Testament is a witness to the central figure of Christianity, Jesus Christ.  Beginning with the war in the heavens and the first earthly conflicts of good and evil, David Featherstone has created a story through the “testaments” of the prophets and of central figures such as John the Baptist and Mary, Jesus’ mother.  It proclaims the Passion of Christ and his ultimate triumph over death through the testament of the Apostle Paul.

The program will feature the following acclaimed soloists:

Laura Bowden – Alto
David Grogan – Baritone/Bass
Brenda Potter – Soprano
Erick Reich – Tenor
Christopher Luebke-Brown – Boy Soprano
